Obituary

Gregory N. Assoian, 50, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 22, 2011. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Maria Andreyeva and Gregory Assoian. Greg leaves his brother, Ralph Assoian; four sisters, Amelia Assoian, Susan Assoian, Maria Assoian, and Angela, wife of Michael Gleason; his niece, Shannen Gleason; and several close friends.

Greg attended Burncoat Senior High School and was a member of Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Greg was a talented writer and was passionate about issues relating to the mentally-challenged and homeless in Worcester. He authored several Letters-to-the-Editor in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and also enjoyed writing songs and poetry. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

A calling hour will be held from 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605 followed by a burial service at Hope Cemetery in Worcester, MA.
