Joanne (Grasso) Quinlan, age 78, died October 20, 2011 at St. Joseph Manor following a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Eugene A. Quinlan, Sr. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Helen (Kelly) Grasso. Joanne was raised in Dedham and Roslindale and was a graduate of Roslindale High School. A resident of Brockton since 1962, Joanne had been employed for several years at Bradlees Corporate offices and retired from Walmart. She had been a longtime communicant and active member of St. Colman Church and a member of Ireland’s Own. She enjoyed travel, cooking, crocheting and was an avid reader and Bingo player. Joanne loved spending time with her grandchildren and her home was always open to friends and family.
She is survived by her children Kevin Quinlan and his wife Olga of Taunton, Elizabeth Balestrero and her husband Leo of Manchester, NH, Karen Downey and her husband Brian of Hanson, Stephen Quinlan and his wife Gina of Pittsburgh, Eugene A. Quinlan Jr. and his wife Michele of Hanson and Nancy Quinlan of Brockton; seven grandchildren Meaghan and Patrick Downey, Sean, Conor, Joseph and Jackson Quinlan, and Logan Ringer Quinlan; two sisters Lorraine DeFranco of Dedham and Lillian Baxter of Brockton, two brothers Vincent Pete Grasso of Brockton and Paul Grasso of Lakeville and was the sister in law and friend of Janice Grasso. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late Thomas Grasso.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 10:30am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery.
