Whalin, Leora Skaggs, passed away October 19, 2011 at Frazier Rehab Center. She was a member of the former St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Moose Lodge KY Chapter 573, and VFW Post 220. Leora retired after working for over 25 years for ABF Trucking Company as the Office Manager.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James E. Whalin; son, James Whalin, Jr.; parents, James and Dollie Skaggs; brothers, James Skaggs, Jr. and Stanley Skaggs, and sister, Coreene Helton.
Survivors include her loving son, Jerry Whalin (Paula); grandchildren, Kim Brumfield (Grant), Kelly Rose (Todd), Kristen Hellmann (Mike), and Keri Duncan (Keith); nine great grandchildren; sister, Floreene Moore (Les); sister-in-law, Ginger Skaggs; and her devoted and beloved companion, Frank Thompson.
Funeral service will be 10am Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday noon-8pm at the funeral home.
