Obituary

William R. "Bucky" McAfee, Jr., 63, of Fairhaven, died Tuesday October 18, 2011 at the Royal of Fairhaven Skilled Nursing Facility after a long illness.

Mr. McAfee was born in New Bedford and lived in Fairhaven. He was formerly employed as a senior technician at Nye Lubricants and as a sales manager at Sears.

He was a member of the Fairhaven Improvement Association (assisting with the Homecoming Fair), and many area orchestras and marching bands. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Couples Club and the Unitarian Memorial Church choir.

Mr. McAfee earned an Associates Degree in Computer Technology from Bristol Community College. He had a lifelong love of music and played upright string bass and trombone. He loved time spent with family, camping trips and coaching his children's soccer, basketball, swimming and softball teams.

Survivors include his wife, Martha McQuillan McAfee; his father, William R. McAfee, Sr., and stepmother, Sylvia Booker McAfee; a daughter, Katherine A. Tardiff and her husband Daniel F. Tardiff; a son, Stephen L. McAfee; a sister, Karen McAfee Bromley and her husband Robert Bromley; and a granddaughter, Emelia J. Tardiff. He was predeceased by his mother Norma McAfee.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 11 AM in the Unitarian Memorial Church, 102 Green St., Fairhaven. Visiting hours are omitted.
