Lelia "Sis" (Garland) Lloyd, 85, of New Bedford died Tuesday October 18, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Lloyd.
Born in Jones County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Milton and Louisa (Ridley) Garland, she lived in New Bedford for many years.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lloyd was formerly employed as a technician for the Raytheon Corporation.
She was a longtime member of Gold Star Wives of America. She was a devoted, loving sister and aunt.
Survivors include two brothers, John Garland and Milton Garland, Jr., both of North Carolina; two sisters, Eurelia Jewell of California and Lillie Cunningham of New Bedford; many nieces and nephews, including Cheryl Patterson and Edward Cunningham, whom she raised; and her Godchildren, Kimberly Perry, John Kydd Jr., and Tracy Walker.
She was the sister of the late Effie Howard, Annie Bell Patterson, Lurlene Coleman, Benjamin, Theodore, Dorsey, Ernest, Burke, and James Garland.
