Obituary

Alton Glenn Way, 84, Clarksville, TN died Tuesday October 18, 2011 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born September 8, 1927 in Wooster, OH, son of the late Glenn Wilson Way and Zuilla Shook Way. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Edward Way and a brother, Dwight Wilson Way.
Mr. Way was owner of the Moon-Lit Theater and also worked in real estate. He was a member of the New
Providence United Methodist Church. Bill directed the choir while Elizabeth played the organ. He also taught an adult Sunday School class, served on nearly every church committee, and was Chairman of the Administrative Board. He was a church Lay leader and Lay speaker for the district. Bill was a member of the Montgomery County Laity Club, a volunteer at Safe House Women's Ministry and a charter member of Urban Ministries where he served on the Board of Directors. He was honored as a "Volunteer of the Year" in the first such awards banquet. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and served during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Manuel Way; sons, Stuart Way (Carol), Coopertown, TN and Glenn Way (Jeannie), Clarksville; a daughter, Cindi Verbist (Bing), Clarksville; sister, Betty Frye (David), Coshocton, OH and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 6 PM at New Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. B.J. Brack officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Providence United Methodist Church Choir Fund, 1317 Fort Campbell Blvd. Clarksville, TN 37042.
