Marilynn Jean Ernest, age 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Fairview Nursing Home, Groton, after suffering several years with multiple ailments.
Marilynn was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on Feb. 7, 1930 the daughter of Howard & Lois White.
She was married to Warren Ernest June 6, 1953. They have two sons: Michael who is married to Nancy, lives in Sterling, CT., has two children, Sarah Jerger who lives in Burlington VT with her husband Jay; and David who lives in Scottsdale, AZ. Timothy, who is married to Joanne, lives in Pleasant Valley, NY has two sons, David & Andrew.
Marilynn taught school for 35 years, the last 25 in Mahwah, NJ where she taught 4th grade. She retired in 1994. She was also a much loved clergy wife to Warren, an Episcopal priest. When Warren retired in 1998, after 25 years as Rector of St. Luke’s, Eastchester, NY, they moved to CT where they have lived in Mystic and now Groton. They have been active and happy members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mystic for the past 12 years.
After cremation, there will be a Memorial Service at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, Oct. 27th at 11am followed by a reception in the parish hall. Her remains will be interred in St. Mark’s Memorial Garden.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Mystic or St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Eastchester, NY.
