Obituary

William T. "Bill" Daly, a 9 year resident of Everett and former 35 year resident of Melrose, died on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 78 years old.

Bill was born in Chelsea on November 3, 1932 to the late John and Ethel Daly. He grew up in Chelsea where he attended Chelsea Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Army on January 15, 1953 and served his country proudly and honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on January 14, 1955 with the rank of Corporal. Bill worked for many years with the United States Government as a Blacksmith for the Boston Naval Shipyard and The Watertown Arsenal. He retired in 1987 following many years of service to his country. Bill enjoyed cooking for the Veterans of Foreign War Post in Beachmont, Revere and was a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge of Chelsea and enjoyed playing pool and bowling.

Bill is the beloved husband of 52 years to Theresa A. (Kane) Daly. He is the devoted father of Theresa M. "Terry" Daly of Everett, Joan M. Daly of Spokane, Washington, Timothy R. Daly and his wife Peggy of Reading and Michael J. Daly of Everett. He is the loving Papa to Sgt. Kristin Daly United States Airforce, Connor Daly, Erin Snover, Ryan Snover, Jamie Snover and Brian Solar. He is the beloved brother of Katherine Cochrane of Virginia, Mary Daly of Chelsea and James and John Daly. He is the best friend of Richard Preble of Chelsea.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's Funeral on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in The Immaculate Conception Church, 487 Broadway, Everett at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
