Obituary

Oscar A Lyn (89 yrs) of Millis MA, died peacefully at Newton Wellesley Hospital on Monday October 3rd in the presence of his wife and daughter.

Born July 5th 1922 in Lacovia Jamaica, West Indies to Albert and Annie (Moo-See) Lyn, he leaves behind loving wife Eva Veronica (Moo-Young) , daughter Sharon Elizabaeth (Lyn) Carn , Son-in-law Ronald C. Carn, and Grandaughter Julia Lyn Carn and many relatives and friends.

Known affectionately as either “Daddy”, “Pa”, “Ago” or “Uncle Oscar” to the family, he was raised in Jamaica, and lived in Canada and Massachusetts.

A multi-talented man, he owned a bakery in his earlier years, and later moved into the agriculture/horticulture business, which was his true passion.

As an agriculturalist he was the first to introduce and grow peanuts in the rural parish of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies which was a positive contribution to the island’s economy.

As a horticulturist he hybridized and specialized in exotic tropical plants, and was always germinating, growing and planting something from a seed or cutting.
He was an active member of the St Elizabeth Horticultural Society and the Jamaica Orchid Society.

“Daddy” was a gentle, kind, unassuming and unselfish person, strong and steadfast in spirit, and only saw the good in people. He was the living testament of a daily miracle in that he was given more than his fair share of medical issues, yet rose to the challenges and overcame them without complaint. He taught others by example and lived an exemplary life of dignity and quiet determination.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on
Saturday November 5th at 10:30 am at St Theresa of Lisieux Parish, 35 South Main St, Sherborn, MA.

He truly manifested this quote from Max Erhmann:

“And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul”

Rest in Peace.
