Obituary

Gerald F. Kayo, Jr., 79, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday October 12, 2011 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. He was born in Greenfield, MA on January 30, 1932, a son of Gerald and Mildred (Stiles) Kayo, Sr. He had been a resident of Derry for the past 10 years, formerly living in Salem, NH. Mr. Kayo was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA, Class of 1952. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the American Legion.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph F. Kayo of Methuen, MA, and Jeffrey W. Kayo of Lawrence; one daughter, Katherine Hoyt of Derry; six grandchildren, Taryn, Alix, Nicolas, Isabella, Johnathan, and Timothy; one brother, William F. Kayo of Salem, NH; his longtime companion, Elinor Waterman of Derry and her family; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, C/O Tammy Stott, Development Associate, Home Health Foundation, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Entrance I, Lawrence, MA 01843. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
