New Bedford – George “The Captain” E. Harding, 65, of South Dartmouth, died Sunday, February 29, 2004 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. Harding and the father of Tom and Glenn Hancock both of South Dartmouth, Paul Hancock of New Bedford, George Harding of New Bedford, Randy Harding of South Dartmouth and the late John Hancock., He had 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mr. Harding was the brother of Barbara Thibeault, Carol Mendes, Eleanor, Edward, Edgar, Armand, William and Charles Harding all of New Bedford, Debra Parris of Fairhaven and Rene Harding of Fall River. He was also brother of the late Robert, Ronald and Lorraine Harding.
Mr. Harding was the son of the late George A. and Doris (Lapointe) Harding. He was the owner of Captain George’s Restaurant and Lounge in Taunton. Mr. Harding enjoyed racing pidgeons with the W.C.D. of New Bedford and fishing.
The Funeral for Mrs. Harding will be on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, March 3, 2004 from 7 - 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M., Thursday at the funeral home.
