TYNGSBORO - Rita A. (Manning) Thompson, age 91, a long time resident of Tewksbury, died peacefully on Sunday morning, October 9, at D'Youville Manor in Lowell after a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Alfred C. "Al" Thompson, who died in 1994.
Mrs. Thompson was a Charter Member and active in the Tewksbury-Wilmington Emblem Club, a member of the St. Claire "Poor Claire" Active Guild, and served the town of Tewksbury during elections as a Precinct Warden.
She was also a communicant of St. William's Church in Tewksbury.
She is survived by a grandson and his wife, Mark K. and Erika Duarte of Tyngsboro, with whom she had resided for the past eight years; three great grandchildren, Emma, Andrew, and Isabella Duarte all of Tyngsboro; and several nieces and nephews, including Tina Santos and her family of Pelham, NH.
She was also mother of the late Patricia A. (Thompson) Duarte, and sister of the late Eileen Horne, who died last week.
Her Funeral Mass was held October 13, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, No. Tewksbury.
