Obituary

Robert F. "Boston Bob" Alix, a resident of Ridgway, Pennsylvannia for 31 years, died suddenly at his home in Pennsylvannia on Monday, October 3, 2011. He was 80 years old.

Bob was born in Boston in 1931 and grew up in the Beacon Hill and West End sections of Boston where he attended Boston Public Schools. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1951 and served his country proudly and honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in 1953. Bob worked for several years in the leather industry in Boston and moved with his employment in 1986 to Pennsylvannia where he retired from Howes Leather Company as a machine operator in 1995.

Bob is the beloved husband of the late Mary Theresa (Keane) Alix of Connemara, Ireland. He is the loving father of Susie Alix-Howard and her husband Tommy Howard of Charlestown. He is the devoted brother of Paul O'Sullivan and his wife Josephine of Millis. He is the dear friend of Margaret Joyce Diamond of Boston and the Fogarty family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Bob on Tuesday morning, October 11, 2011 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan.
