Estelle Teague Funk, age 92, formerly of Vandola Road, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011.
Born August 2, 1919 in Switchback, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Teague and Cora Teague. She lived most of her life in Danville where she worked as a weaver in Dan River Mills until her retirement. She was married for 61 years to Fielding “Felix” Funk who predeceased her in 2002.
Estelle was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Vandola Baptist Church.
Surviving her are one son: Gerald Funk and his wife Sandy of Goose Creek, SC; one daughter: Cathy Labiak and her husband Joe of High Point, NC; six grandchildren: Christine Henning, Gerald Funk, Jr., David Labiak, Tim Brooder, Joey Labiak, and Kimberly Funk; seven great-grandchildren; one brother: Sam Teague and his wife Pat of Henderson, Nevada; three sisters: Marion Shelton, Bertha Agnew, and Jean Parrish and her husband Tip, all of Danville; one sister-in-law: Mildred Funk Layne of Woodlawn, VA; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Roy Teague, and two sisters, Hazel Saul and Elva Sterner.
Estelle loved her family, her home, and playing bingo. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services officiated by Dr. Scott Bortz will be held Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the home of Harvey and Lois Brincefield, 249 Wyndover Place, Danville.
