TAUNTON – Agnes M. (Moreira) Amaral, wife of Jose Amaral, died at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence on Oct. 4th after being struck by a vehicle in Taunton earlier that day.
She was 67.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was the daughter of Virginia (Andrade) Moreira and the late Jose Soares Moreira.
She moved to this area in 1973.
A homemaker and faithful communicant of St. Anthony Church, Mrs. Amaral enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Besides her husband and mother, both of Taunton, she leaves three sons, John M. Amaral and his wife Diana of Berkley, Arthur M. Amaral of GA, and Paul M. Amaral and his wife Jennifer of Attleboro; a daughter, Maria Bairos and her husband Serafim of Framingham; a brother Jose Moreira of Portugal; five sisters, Maria Magan, Emilia Reis, Maria Moreira, Virginia Alves, all of Taunton, and Ermelinda Moreira of Portugal; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Jose S. Amaral.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday Oct. 10th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 9th from 5 to 8 p.m.
