Maria (Duarte) Furtado, age 91, of Dighton and formerly of Cambridge, MA, passed away Oct. 4, 2011. She was the widow of Marcelino Furtado and daughter of the late Antonio Duarte Ferreira and the late Helen de Couto Rodrigues. Mrs. Furtado was born in Fall River and returned to Fenais da Luz, São Miguel, Açores at the age of 9 before retuning many years later to Fall River. She was a member of St. Michael Parish.
She was the mother of Jorge Furtado of Somerset, Ernesto Furtado of Fall River and the late Marcelina Costa; the grandmother of 7; the great grandmother of 10; and the aunt to several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on THURSDAY at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours WEDNESDAY 5-8 P.M.
