Obituary

Whitman – David W. Kaiser 82, a life long resident of Whitman died Sunday October 2 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Marian L. (Little) Kaiser.

Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman he was the only son of the late David J. and May (Larrett) Kaiser and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1946. He continued his education at Bentley University, graduating in 1958.

David was a proud veteran of the Korean War serving overseas as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1951-1955.

Before his retirement in 1983 Dave had worked as treasurer for the Fred S. James & Co. Insurance.

He had been an active member of the Whitman community and had given generously of his time to various committees and organizations, having served as chairman of the Finance Committee, trustee of the former Whitman Savings Bank, and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He had served on the board of the Visiting Nurse Assoc. and was an active member of the United Methodist Church, as well as trustee and treasurer for the Toll House Village.

His passion however was singing and he shared his talents locally as a member of barbershop choruses in Brockton and East Bridgewater. He had also been a member of numerous barbershop quartets over the years, and was a longtime member of the SPEBSQSA, the Barbershop Harmony Society. To the delight of his fellow members he was a frequent soloist at the United Methodist Church.

In the earlier years of his retirement he enjoyed traveling and playing pinochle with close friends.

He is survived by his two sons Bruce D. Kaiser and his wife Cynthia of Hanson and Bradford I. Kaiser and his wife Mimmi of Whitman, his grandchildren Kaylin and Kathryn Kaiser, Daniel Lawcewicz, Jr., and Lindsay Friis. He is also survived by two great grandchildren Zachary and Hailey.

His funeral service will be held Thursday October 6 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday October 5 from 4-8 PM.
