Hanson – Richard F. Kelley, Sr. 74 of Hanson died Saturday October 1 after a brave battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Sharon (Taylor) Kelley.
Born in Brockton and raised in Marshfield he was the son of the late John and Achsah (Hatch) Kelley and a graduate of Marshfield High.
Richard was a proud Veteran of the US Army having served from 1954 -1956. After the service he worked as a pipe fitter for General Dynamics of Quincy where he retired after 30 years.
He had been a resident of Abington for over forty years, and had served for several years as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the town before his move to Hanson four years ago.
He was a family man and truly enjoyed the time spent with his three grandchildren, Kelley, Michael, and Taylor.
In addition to his wife Sharon he is survived by his loving children Richard Kelley, Jr. and his wife Gale of Solon, Maine and Cheryl Young and her husband Dale of Hanson, his grandchildren Kelley & Michael Young and Taylor Kelley, as well as three brothers, three sisters and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held Friday October 7 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Marshfield Hills Cemetery, Marshfield. Visiting hours will be held Thursday October 6 from 5-9 PM.
