Obituary

EAST BROOKFIELD; Robert H. “Bob” LaFlower, 74, of 251 East Main St., died Saturday, October 1 at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge after a courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Judith M. (Delisle) LaFlower, three sons; James R. and Michael J. LaFlower both of East Brookfield, Paul W. LaFlower and his wife Danelle of Wales, MA., a daughter, Cheryl A. Johnson and her husband James of Auburn, two sisters; Joan Sauvageau and her husband Paul and Betty Madelle both of Spencer, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Gary A. LaFlower in 1981 and a grandson, Robert Wedge in 2009.

Born in Brookfield, he was the son of Joseph & Elizabeth (Fitt) LaFlower and lived in Spencer for many years until moving to East Brookfield.

He served his country in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for many years as a machinist, did carpentry and nursing home maintenance, retiring in 2004.

He coached many years for Little League, Babe Ruth and Legion Ball. He was an avid golfer and member at Bedrock Golf Course where he enjoyed playing in the Senior League. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday, October 4 from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home.
