WORCESTER-Anni (Kalabund) Krals, 89, of Worcester, died Wednesday, September 28th in her home. Her husband of 40 years Alfred Krals died in 1997 and a son Helmut passed away in 2007. She is survived by her son Georg Iwaniuk and his wife Donna of Auburn; her brother, Waldemar Kalabund of Germany; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Guenther of Castle Rock, CO; six grandchildren, Heidi Drake, Lisa, Eric and Kurt Iwaniuk, Brian and Gary Guenther; eight great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces in Germany.
She was born in Leszczyna, Poland the daughter of Michael and Lillie (Thiele) Kalabund, and had moved to Connecticut in 1956, then returned to Germany and on October 3rd, 1957 returned with her family to Auburn. Mrs. Krals had been a textile worker for several local companies among them Standard Yarn. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Anni enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and friends. She was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to her caretakers, Carol, Tamela, Tara, Justina and Deb for the compassionate care extended to Anni.
Her calling hours will be held Monday, October 3rd, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, with her funeral service at 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Society for Melanoma Research, P. O. Box 215, Burnt Hills, NY 12027.
