David Patrick Toomey, 58, of Alfred, ME, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in the Maine Medical Center. He was the life partner of Cathy Hussey.
Born in Beverly on April 18, 1953, he was the son of James and Evangeline (Hidish) Toomey of Danvers. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School, Class of 1971, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Class of 1976.
David had been employed as an electrical engineer for Sprague Electric and Vishay.
He enjoyed playing hockey, hiking, and camping.
In addition to his life partner and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica Erin Toomey of Alfred, ME, two sisters, Kathleen Collins and her husband James of Byfield and Maggie Driscoll and her husband Rich of Danvers, two brothers, Francis Toomey and his wife Lisa of Wenham and John Toomey and his wife Cathy of Sandown, NH, two uncles, John Toomey and his wife Patricia and Adam Kowalski, and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at noon in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Saturday morning prior to the Mass from 10-11:45AM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to the MGH Development Office, Bone Marrow Transplant Center, 165 Cambridge St., Boston, MA 02114.
