OBITUARY;SPENCER; John J. Agurkis 86 of Point Eastalee Drive, died Thursday, February 26th at the Beaumont Nursing Home in Westboro, after an illness. He was the husband of Helen R. (Hickey) Agurkis who died in 1998. He leaves , a son, John Richard Agurkis of West Boylston, a daughter, Joyce M. Ford of Shrewsbury, two brothers; Joseph Agurkis of Millbury, Albert Agurkis of Worcester, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph & Mclena (Chestnut) Agurkis and lived there most of his life before moving here in 1967. Mr. Agurkis was a delivery man for 25 years at Table Talk Pies in Worcester, retiring in 1974. He previously worked for Wyman Gordons Co. in Grafton. He was a graduate of North High School. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Spencer, the Knights of Columbus-Council # 88 in Worcester and the Teamsters-Local 170 also in Worcester. He did volunteer work at Fallon Clinic and at the Worcester Medical Center. He enjoyed golf, repairing televisions, traveling and spending time with his family. The funeral will be held Saturday, February 28th from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Church St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spencer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 147, Spencer, MA 01562.
