Leo J. Richard, 87, of Main St., Albion, died Wednesday morning at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Emelia A. “Millie” (Fortier) Richard who died in 2010.
Born in Albion, he was a son of the late George and Sarah (Leveille) Richard. He remained a lifelong resident of Albion.
Mr. Richard was employed by Berkshire Hathaway for over 25 years before retiring. Leo was a lifelong communicant of St. Ambrose Parish.
Leo served the community as a member of the Albion Fire Department for many years and was Chief of the Department for several years.
He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
He is survived by a sister Lucienne “Lucy” Dugay of Cumberland and was predeceased by 5 brothers, 5 sisters, and a stepson Richard Carpenter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
His funeral will be Friday at 8:30 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Ambrose Church, School St., Albion. Burial in St. Ambrose Cemetery will be at a later date. Visiting hours are Thursday (TODAY) from 4-7 pm.
