Obituary

Armand "Willy" Wilfred Fontaine Sr., 81, died Saturday, September 24th, 2011 in Nashville, Arkansas. He was born in West Warwick, RI on January 7, 1930, the son of Joseph Fontaine and Alice Goodell. He was better known as Willy to his friends and family. Willy was one of seven children.

He joined the Army National Guard of Mystic CT in 1950 and was called to serve in the Korean War in 1951.

On December 24, 1954 Willy married Arline Robinson. They had four children, Armand Fontaine Jr., Carol (Fontaine) Moon, Earline (Fontaine) Cremeans, and Dennis Fontaine. Albert Fontaine is the only surviving sibling.

Willy had 14 grandchildren: Tammy Fontaine, James Fontaine, Armand Fontaine III, Melanie Moon, David Moon Jr., Steven Moon, Chris Fontaine, Portia (Collins) Frank, Holly Mills, Frank Cremeans, Tashina (Fontaine) Densmore, Angelina Fontaine, Daniel Eldridge, and Albert Eldridge. His great grandchildren are Shilee Fontaine, Seth Fontaine, Steven Fontaine, Trevor Fontaine, Troy Fontaine, Amber Royster, Kelsey Kennith, David Moon III, Caidence Moon, Lily Frank, Nicole Mills, Eli Wheeler, Danahi Fontaine, Kaytlyn Densmore, Jayda Lemoi, Alexander Eldridge, and Angel Torres.

Willy was a hard worker and loved to spend his free time with his family. He coached his sons Little League team and enjoyed family picnic days at the beach, clamming and fishing.

Willy belonged to the Elks Club, VFW, and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478 Pension Fund.

Willy was loved by and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He will be laid to rest near his mother in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic, CT.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday, October 4th, from 9:30am to 10:30am. A graveside service with presentation of military honors will immediately follow at 11:00am at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic.
