Roberto D. Whelton, age 16
Student at Shawsheen Tech
TEWKSBURY: Roberto D. Whelton, age 16, a resident of Tewksbury and member of the Shawsheen Tech Class of 2013, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
Born in Worcester on March 14, 1995, he was the son of Michael J. Whelton, III of Tewksbury.
Roberto was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and was currently a junior at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica.
Roberto enjoyed a passion for music, physical fitness and playing basketball.
In addition to his father, he is survived by one brother, Joshua Whelton of Tewksbury; his paternal grandmother, Roberta E. (Rogers) Whelton of Tewksbury; his aunts and uncles, Lisa M. (Whelton) Francis and her husband Scott M. of Methuen, Dianne G. (Whelton) Paolini of Tewksbury, Daniel M. Whelton and his wife Carole A. (Cooke)of Bedford; also numerous cousins , friends and classmates.
Roberto was the nephew of the late Stephen P. Whelton, and paternal grandson of the late Michael J. Whelton, Jr.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Sept. 25, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 26, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street, NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC 20036-3604
