Beryl Simmonds Alford, 84, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011 at Camellia Gardens in Slidell, LA.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 1, at 11:00 A.M. at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald. If you shared a special or funny experience with Beryl and would care to write it in a simple note, you may drop in into a basket located at the entrance to the service. The family will appreciate and enjoy reading these remembrances.
Beryl was born in London, England on April 21, 1927, the youngest of three daughters. During World War II, she met and married Buddy and moved to America, residing in Atlanta, GA. till 1956 when the family moved to Fitzgerald. Beryl quickly became active in school P.T.A., the Garden Club, Bridge Club and of course, the English Wives Club. She was a member and Sunday School Teacher at The First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald. We will miss Beryl’s kindness, her quick wit, her guidance, leadership, and her love for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lanoux, Slidell, LA; her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Brenda Alford, Roswell, GA; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther L. “Buddy” Alford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Humane Society, 106 Lions Park Road, Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
