Melissa Ann Russell, age 44, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Sarepta, MS with Jimmy Russell, Chris Russell, Joey Joyner, Brad Wood, Jeremy Bolen and Corey Reno serving as pallbearers.
Melissa was born January 27, 1967 in Oxford, MS to Roland Wayne Edwards and Ginger Morris. She was valedictorian of Water Valley High School class of 1984 and enjoyed reading, camping and fishing. She loved Ole Miss football and Atlanta Braves baseball. Melissa was employed as an RN at the Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada, MS, a volunteer first responder with the O'Tuckolofa Fire Department and a member of a medical team on mission to Nicaragua. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley, MS. Melissa loved her family and friends and was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband, Jason Russell of Water Valley, MS; a daughter, Caitlyn Watts of Water Valley, MS; a son, Dustin Watts (Ashley) of Water Valley, MS; a sister, Jennifer Nall of Ash Flat, AR; her mother, Ginger Morris (Jerry) of Water Valley, MS; her nieces, Elisha Edwards, and Makenzie Townes and her nephews, Chris Edwards, Josh Edwards and Emanuel Townes.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roland Wayne Edwards.
