In Falmouth, Elizabeth M. (Lynch) Valdes, age 92, died on September 19, 2011 at JML Nursing Center after a brief illness. Elizabeth was born on May 26, 1919 in Taunton MA, where she lived for the majority of her life, the place she calls “Home”. It was here that she was married, raised a son, and worked as a bookkeeper. Elizabeth was a member at the former St. Joseph Church in Taunton. Throughout her life, she enjoyed hobbies such as sewing, crocheting, swimming, basketball, baking, and cake decorating. She was also known to enjoy a motorcycle ride, which she enjoyed annually right up until the year of her death. Elizabeth was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed summers at the family cottage in Mattapoisett, MA, which was her “home away from home”. Survivors include her son, James R. Valdes and his wife Deborah A. Valdes of Falmouth, MA. Elizabeth also leaves behind two grandchildren. Granddaughter, Kimberley A. Phu and her husband Uy Phu of Marstons Mills, MA. Grandson, Jeffrey J. Valdes and his wife Margaret M. Valdes of Falmouth, MA. Additional family members include Sharon Jacek and her family of Harwich, MA and Steven Lynch and his family of Harwich, MA. The Neto family of Taunton, Ester, Joseph, and Lynn (Neto) Street are also left behind by their dearest friend and/or Godmother. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin H. Valdes Jr. and her two brothers James Lynch and William Lynch. Visiting hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Thursday, September 22nd from 9- 10:30 AM. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
