Obituary

Benjamin M. Fitzgerald, Sr., 91, of Hampstead, NH died on Friday, September 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 18, 1919 in Yarnaby, OK, son of the late Garrett and Myrtle (Faubion) Fitzgerald. Mr. Fitzgerald was a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines. He worked for Filene’s Department Store in Boston, MA and later worked as a machinist for United Carr Fastener in Cambridge, MA, retiring in 1982. Ben enjoyed being outside, gardening, farming, and the smell of fresh cut hay. He also enjoyed watching the Red Sox. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by six daughters, Nancy Brustin and husband Edward of Bow, Virginia Black and husband Frederick of Sandown, Kathleen Turner and husband Ronald of Hampstead, Patricia Fitzgerald and partner David Tebo of St. Albans, Maine, Madeline Lesh and Elizabeth Ann Trueblood, one son Benjamin Fitzgerald, Jr. and wife Laura of Hampton, six grandchildren Christopher Black, Mathew Turner, Kimberly Brady, Samantha Brustin, Olivia and Tyler Fitzgerald, four great grandchildren, Christopher Black, Elise and Lochlann Brady and Ryan Turner. He was predeceased by his wife of nearly 65 years, Dorothy (Stepasiuk) Fitzgerald on August 18, 2011and grandson Sean Francis.
Private services are being held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher’s Church, 187 East Road, Hampstead, NH 03841.
