Billie Maude Green Winters, age 79, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at her home in Water Valley, MS.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The Funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at Seven Oaks with Bro. Fred Eakes officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Charles Winters, Tony Winters, Danny Pettit, John Pettit, Joshua Winters and Jackie Winters serving as pallbearers. Jimmy Berry, Frank B. Brooks, Travis Brooks, Kenny Taylor, Billy Wayne Berry, and Paul Henry McCullar will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Billie was born February 28, 1932 in Water Valley, MS to the late Thomas Taylor and Mabel Berry Green. She attended Water Valley schools through the 12th grade and the American School. She graduated Stevens College and the University of MS. She worked as a secretary for Dr. George Brown at Water Valley Hospital, she was the Front Office and Medical Records Manager at Yalobusha General Hospital, and Medical Records Manager of Oxford Lafayette County Hospital. For 61 years Billie worked as a Health Information Consultant for over 135 nursing facilities, traveling to MS, LA, AL and TN for years. She was well known as a knowledgeable medical records consultant. Billie was a member of the National Medical Records Association where she held state officer positions for several years, the Health Information Association, the American Medical Records Association and the Water Valley Pilot Club. She was a member of Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church in Water Valley where she served as pianist for over 25 years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, J.C. Winters of Water Valley, MS; one daughter, Linda Winters Maynor of Water Valley, MS; one granddaughter, Cathey Maynor Wrenn (Brandon) of Grenada, MS and one great granddaughter, Cate Wrenn.
