Sterling, MA: Eileen Richard age 92, died July 6, 2011 in Sterling following a long illness. Eileen was a well known barber on the North Shore.
Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on March 7, 1919 and raised in Fitchburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward B. and Anna (LeBlanc) Richard. For over 40 years, she worked as a hair stylist, first in Boston and later for the Male Image in Salem and Shear Artistry of Danvers. She was also the owner of Irene’s Card and Gift Shop of Cleghorn, a section of Fitchburg.
She leaves a daughter, Anne Fitch and her husband Elliott of Fitchburg, a sister-in-law Rosie Richard of Fitchburg, her former husband Francis C. Richard and her devoted friend of many years, Pauline Tondreau of Danvers and Florida as well as two brother, two sisters, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral services were held in Fitchburg. A celebration of Eileen’s life will take place on the weekend of September 24, 2011, in the Hawthorne Hotel, 18 Washington Square West, Salem, MA 01970.
