Charles Edwin Nichols, age 90 of Clarksville, TN, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Grace Health Care.
He was born March 6, 1921 in Montgomery County, son of the late Thomas E. Nichols and Annie D. Killebrew Nichols. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Nichols and two sisters, Julia Harper and Frances Harris.
Mr. Nichols was a US Army WWII veteran. He later retired from Civil Service at Ft. Campbell, KY. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church for seventy-five years and the American Legion Post 7.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Monday from 12 Noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Stephens Nichols; a son, Charles Andrew Nichols (Pamela); a daughter, Sara Deanna Nichols, all of Clarksville; two step-daughters, Betty Luebke (Brian), Fairbanks, AK and Teresa Tanner, Clarksville; a sister, Martha Ann Burke, Clarksville; three grandchildren, Derrick Nichols, Patrick Nichols and Curtis Nichols; four great-grandchildren, Chase Nichols, Emberly Nichols, Charis Nichols and Brooklynn Nichols; four step-grandchildren, Tony Patterson, Jr. (Misty), Justin, Arthur and Alexander Luebke; two step-great-grandsons, Anthony Patterson III and Cody Oliver.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Nichols, Patrick Nichols, Curtis Nichols, Tony Patterson, Jr., Billy Harper, Mike Bowers, Chris Barbour and Buddy Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Howard Smith, Kenny Barbour, Tommy Harris, George Schroer, Roger Williams and H.C. Patterson.
