ZIOBRO Claire Louise, 83, passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning, September 15th 2011 at her home at The EPOCH centre in Weston, MA. after a long battle with dementia.
She is survived by her daughter Suzan Marie Ziobro, of Cambridge, England, son Peter William Ziobro and his wife Virginia of Weston, MA, and five grandchildren.
The daughter of John Sweeney and Maude Perry Sweeney, Claire was born and raised in Middletown, New York, together with her surviving sister Norma and deceased brother Jack. She graduated from Cornell University with an RN degree in nursing.
She was married to Henry Raymond Ziobro in 1959. Prior to raising a family, she worked as a registered nurse. After her children entered school she returned to work as a visiting nurse and was subsequently promoted to manage a home nursing service. She ultimately became head of the Hospice Unit at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, New Jersey. She retired at the age of 68 but continued to work on a part-time and volunteer basis at the hospital until she was in her early 70’s. For most of her married life she lived in Mountainside, NJ, then moved to Weston after the death of her husband in 2004.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph Church, 142 Lincoln Rd., LINCOLN, MA., on Monday September 19th at 10AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours omitted. Interment private.
