Thomas J. Thornton Jr. of Reading passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2011 at the Winchester Hospital. He was 86 years of age.
Born in Winchester, he was the loving son of the late Ruth (Doucette) Van Horn and Thomas J. Thornton. Thomas was a warm and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be sadly missed.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Lynch) Thornton. Devoted father of Forest P. Thornton and his wife Deborah J. of ME, William T. Thornton and his wife Jennifer of FL and Joel E. Thornton and his wife Lynne of Reading. Cherished grandfather of 5 and greatgrandfather of 3. Dear brother of Richard Van Horn and his wife Joanne of NH, Linda Tuttle and her late husband Al of Reading and Judy Smith and her late husband Ken of Reading. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service celebrating Thomas’ Life will be held on Monday at 11:30 am in the Chapel of the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment with Military Honors Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
