Obituary

James L. Raffield, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 16 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wilburn Wiley and Bro. William Villers, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Raffield was born May 14, 1926 in Irwin County to the late Jackson A. and Pearl Barnes Raffield. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1988. Mr. Raffield was a carpenter, former employee of Stone Paper Mill in Rome, GA, Macon Paper Mill and former owner/operator of Raffield Repairs. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Raffield was a member of Liberty Emanuel Holiness Church and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife: Loretta Brown Raffield of Fitzgerald; children: Danny Lamar Raffield of Jasper, James Larice Raffield, Jr. of Cleveland, Brenda Darlene Kent of Fitzgerald, Kayrn D. Gay of Covington, Misty Pressley and Michael Nation of Fitzgerald; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers: P.L. “Buddy” Raffield of Ocilla and Wayne Raffield of Covington; sisters: Faye Bradley of Waycross and Diana Deese of Tampa, Fl as well as several nieces and nephews.
