Obituary

In Taunton, September 12, 2011 George Kenneth Vaughan was born February 13, 1940 to the late Kenneth & Helen (Sanford) Vaughan. He was the husband of Mary E. (Crossman), whom he married 50 years ago on Oct. 14, 1961. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters; Loretta Goldrick and her husband Michael, Janet Vaughan and his two sons; David and Brian Vaughan and his companion Lili White all of Taunton. He also leaves his granddaughters; Kara, Ashley, Katie, Meghan and Tasha and also one great granddaughter Mya and nephew Kenneth Conway and his sister-in-law Eleanor Crossman of Taunton. He also was the brother of Jean Conway, Barbara Vaughan and the late Helen Brown. George also leaves several nieces and nephews and his many close friends and his faithful dog Sandy. George attended Taunton schools. He was a reservist with the National Guard attending basic training in Texas. He retired from Bardon Trimont in 2000, and was a proud member of Teamsters local #653. During his career he worked for many trucking companies, including Western Auto and Arrow Trucking. He was a member of the Italian Club on Wales St. George was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially camping on Sandy Neck Beach with his family. George also enjoyed telling stories,reminscing about history, and had an amazing memory. he was a true loyal friend, who was always willing to help anyone in need. He also loved to travel to Colebrook, NH. and Cape Cod. He was the founder and president of the Black Diamond Motorcycle Club. During George’s battle with cancer. He remained positive, and he encouraged his family to enjoy the happy times with him. Even during his last stage of his life he continued to show his love for his family and friends. This was evident with his infectious smile and the twinkling in his eyes. A funeral home service will be celebrated at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma. 02780 on Friday, Sept. 16th at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thurs from 4-7pm. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
