Obituary

SPENCER/AUBURN: Martha L. (Somers) Javery 89, of 29 Lyford Rd., died Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Millbury Healthcare Center in Millbury after an illness.

She was the wife of Alva William Javery, former Boston Braves pitcher from 1940-45, who died in 1977. She leaves her son Peter S. Javery and his wife Judith of Spencer with whom she lived, a brother Robert Somers of Westfield, four grandchildren; Brenda M. Martin of Spencer, John P. Javery of Norton, Deborah A. Zastawny of Grafton and Anne-Marie Petruzzi of E.Brookfield, and 11 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Warren and Albertine (Gallant) Somers and lived in Auburn for most of her life, before moving to Spencer in 2007.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 7pm. at the conclusion of calling hours from 5 to 7p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will be private in St. Roch’s Cemetery, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Danna Farber, Inc., 375 Longwood Ave., Boston, Ma. 02115.
