Lula Beth Burns Porter Obituary - Water Valley MS

Lula Beth Burns Porter, age 80, of Coffeeville, MS, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born May 17, 1934 in Oakland, MS to the late William Henry and Pearl Pipkin Burns. Lula Beth worked for Grenada Hosiery Mill; was a hairdresser for a number of years; and later partnered with her husband, David, as an owner of Porter Construction Company where she served as Bookkeeper and Office Manager. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Coffeeville, MS. Lula Beth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, canning, making her famous homemade ice cream and pecan pies and loved visiting with family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Coffeeville, MS. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church immediately following the visitation with Dr. Thad Moore and Rev. Stacy Douglas officiating. Burial will be in the Coffeeville City Cemetery in Coffeeville, MS with David Persick, John Wells, Steve Latza, Donnie Summers, Bill Burns and Kyle Jeffreys serving as pallbearers.

Lula Beth is survived by three daughters, Teresa (Ralph) Persick of Coffeeville, MS, Cindy (Sid) Seal of Brandon, MS and Betty (Richard) Quon of Moorhead, MS; a sister, Mattie Frances (Steve) Latza of Chipley, FL; a sister-in-law, Betty (Don) Summers of Oxford, MS; a brother-in-law, Tommy (Sue) Porter of Terry, MS; four grandchildren, Lauren Persick (Kyle) Jeffreys, David Ory Persick, Porter Hardy Wells and John Edward Wells V; two great-grandchildren, William Levi Jeffreys and Luke Ory Jeffreys; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen Porter and her daughter, Rose Marie Porter.
