David J. Gitschier, 48, A long time resident of Lawrence, Massachusetts died on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Robert H. Sr. and Mary (Cushing) Gitschier, on September 5, 1962. He was educated in the Bruce Grammar School in Lawrence and a graduate of Lawrence Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1981. He worked as a Machinist at United Shoe Machine in Haverhill, prior to this he worked at Berkshire Manufacturing in Newburyport for five years. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine Chapel. He loved to spend time with his family, and loved to cook at family gatherings. He was a Boy Scout Leader. He worked with his wife at Drum Corps through out New England. According to his family he loved Star Trek and that he was a True Trekkie, and loved to go on road trips.
He leaves his loving wife: Barbara E. (Noll) Gitschier; his father Robert H. Gitschier, Sr. of Lawrence. His five daughters: Dawn Sanborn and her husband James of Seabrook, NH, Valerie Wing of Woodsville, NH, Teresa Caton of Gardner, MA, Erica Hatch of Manchester, NH, and Lori Bussey and her husband Richard of Haverhill, MA. He leaves his two brothers: Thomas Gitschier and his wife Maureen of Missouri, and Robert H. Gitschier, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Virginia, and one sister: Mary Lou Leonhard and her husband James of Dracut, MA, and 14 grandchildren also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00AM on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
