Nancy L. (Whyte) Maher, a 31 year resident of Wakefield, died on Friday, January 7, 2011 at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a courageous battle with cancer.
Nancy was born in Quincy on August 22, 1951 to Christopher M. and Doris (Lovett) Whyte. She grew up in Saugus where she attended Saugus Public Schools and graduated from Saugus High School in 1969. Nancy had been working as a dispatcher for Central Cooling and Heating Company in Woburn for the last 13 years. Nancy was an avid Red Sox fan, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with her dog; McKenzie, listening to the Oldies while sitting on her back deck during summer evenings, watching the news and cherished her time reading to her grandson.
Nancy is the devoted and loving mother of Michelle Maher of Wakefield, Jessica Bloomer of Peabody, Christopher Maher of North Reading, Justin Maher of Washington, D.C., Michael Maher of Arlington and Lindsay Maher of Medford. She is the loving Grammy to Joseph Christopher Bloomer. She is the beloved daughter of Christopher M. Whyte of Saugus and the late Doris (Lovett) Whyte. She is the beloved sister of Christina Baldi of Saugus and the late Barry Whyte. She is the loving aunt of Eric Baldi of Wilmington and Melissa Baldi of Beverly. She is the dear friend and cousin of Brenda Allen and Linda Whyte both of Saugus and dear friend of Warren and Carol Chesley of Wakefield.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Nancy's Funeral on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Wakefield/Melrose line followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m.
