Maguire, Patrolman John B. “Jack”, City of Woburn Police Dept. of Wilmington, in the line of duty, December 26, 2010. Beloved husband of Desiree A. (Nollett). Devoted father of Bryan Maguire of Wilmington, Tara Maguire of Wilmington and Sean Maguire of Woburn. Cherished brother of Charles T. Maguire and his wife Kathleen of Reading. Son of the late former Woburn Chief of Police Thomas J. Maguire Jr. and Esther L. (McPartlin). Son-in-law of Rita (Carangelo) Nollett of Wilmington formerly of Stoneham and the late Donald Nollett. Nephew of Mary E. Maguire of Woburn. Brother-in-law of David and Joanne Nollett of Wilmington, Denise Cole of FL, Donald and Elaine Nollett of Saugus, Joe and Danielle Nesbit of Stoneham. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Friday, December 31st, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service celebrated in the Aleppo Shrine Auditorium, 99 Fordham Rd., Wilmington, at 11 a.m.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Thursday from 3 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with full honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn, Charles Gardner Lane, Woburn, MA 01801.



Patrolman John B. "Jack" Maguire, a 34 year Veteran of the City of Woburn Police Dept., died December 26th, in the line of duty, he was 60 years of age. Jack was the beloved husband of Desiree A. (Nollett) and together they shared 23 years of marriage. Born and raised in Woburn, he was one of two sons of the late former Woburn Chief of Police, Thomas J. Maguire Jr. and Esther L. (McPartlin).

Prior to moving to Wilmington 17 years ago, Jack lived his entire life in Woburn. He grew up in his family’s home on Prospect St. in Woburn's South End. He was appointed to the Woburn Police Department in June of 1977 and has served the City of Woburn faithfully since that time. Education and reading where a big and important part of Jack's life. He would read anything he could get his hands on. He was a 1969 graduate of Austin Prep High School and was also a 1973 graduate of UMASS Lowell. He attended Franklin Pierce College and received his Masters Degree in Business Administration on May 17, 1998. The folling year he received his Masters Degree in Science and Criminal Justice Administration from the Western New England College on October 15, 1999 and in the same year he received his Doctorate Degree in Philosophy from the American College of Metaphysical Theology on November 23, 1999. Jack enjoyed working on the computer, listening to music, and learning to play musical instruments like the dulcimer, mandolin and bass guitar. Always looking to learn about new and different things, Jack's latest endeavor was learning to cook.

Jack cherished spending time with his family and friends and traveling to places like Old Orchard Beach, Lake George and Montreal. Together with his wife and family they spent as much time as possible at their second home in Monson, ME. Jack's family was his number one priority and he took great pride in being organized and well prepared for his family's future.

Along with his beloved wife Desiree, Jack is survived by his three loving children, Bryan and Tara Maguire of Wilmington, and Sean Maguire of Woburn. He was the cherished brother of Charles T. Maguire and his wife Kathleen of Reading. He was the loving son-in-law of Rita (Carangelo) Nollett of Wilmington formerly of Stoneham and the late Donald Nollett. He is also survived by his aunt, Mary E. Maguire of Woburn. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters- in-law, David and Joanne Nollett of Wilmington, Denise Cole of FL, Donald and Elaine Nolett of Saugus, Joe and Danielle Nesbit of Stoneham, nieces and nephews, Patrick and Thomas Maguire, Michelle Cosgrove, Nicole Donovan, Kristen Nollett, Jonathan and Vinny Cole, Addie Nollett-Monroy, Rachelle Barrera, Derek Clinton, Joseph, John, Donald, and Angelique Nesbit.
