Barbara Resnick , 77, of Derry, NH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 20, 2010, in the Bedford Hills Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bedford, NH. She was born in Amesbury, MA on November 8, 1932, daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Hardy) Ballentine. She graduated from Deering High School in Portland, ME and then from the Michael Reese Hospital School in Chicago, IL as a clinical director. Mrs. Resnick returned to Portland and worked for a local physician. She then met her future husband; Bernard; while he was performing summer stock theatre and they were married August 4, 1960. They lived in Portland, ME until 1971 when they relocated to Derry where they raised their family. Mrs. Resnick was an incredibly talented artist in the drawing and painting medium. She also had a “green thumb” and enjoyed planting and tending her deck garden. Mrs. Resnick enjoyed reading and also entertaining friends, especially her card games or scrabble get-togethers with her group of friends.
She is survived by two daughters; Jan Carelli and her husband Stephen of Londonderry, NH, Kari Taylor and her husband George of Murrieta, CA; a son; Peter St. James and his wife Rhonda of Warner, NH; a granddaughter; Diana Taylor; three grandsons; Zachary Taylor, Jeremy St. James and Justin St. James and also by her beloved dog; Nuggi. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years; Bernard M. Resnick in 2009 and by her daughter; Lisa J. O’Neill in 2005.
Private family graveside services were held in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway, Derry, NH 03038.
