Richard C. “Chief” Soares, age 76, of Fall River passed away Sep. 12, 2010 at home. He was the husband of the late Dolores (Carvalho) Soares and the son of the late Joseph & Virginia (Viveiros) Soares. Prior to retiring, Richard had worked as a Pipefitter. He was the Founder & President of the Sidewinders Motorcycle Club and a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his children: Richard Soares Jr., Ronnie Soares, Robert Bearden, Samuel Garcia, Paula Eaton, Maryann LaForest, Desiree Soares, & Ruby Bearden all of Fall River. He was the brother of Robert Soares of Fall River and Eileen C. (Soares) Wadsworth & her husband George of East Lyme, CT. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, & nieces & nephews. He was the father of the late Tammy Lee Soares & the brother of the late Edward, George, & Joseph Soares.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on THURSDAY at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 10:30 A.M. Calling hours: TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Interment with military honors in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
