Florence V. (Priest) Baker, a resident of Medford for over 50 years, formerly of Cambridge and beloved wife of the late Delmar E. Baker, died at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge on Friday, August 27, 2010. She was 88 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on February 9, 1922, she was the beloved daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Portanova) Priest. Florence was a long time communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medford and was a member of the St. Joseph Sodality. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and was an active member of the Medford Senior Center. Above all, Florence was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She will be dearly missed by her five children: Donna M. Jesmer of Londonderry, NH, Paul A. Baker of Manchester, NH, William P. and Debra K. Baker of Lynn, Dennis F. and his wife Lisa M. Baker of Medford and Richard A. and his wife Jill M. Baker of Peabody; five siblings: Quentin Priest of Belmont, Edward Priest of Waltham, Lenora Alcaro of Florida, Carol DeFrancisco of Lincoln and Lucille Theodore of California; eleven grandchildren: Richard, Christina, Theresa, Paul Jr., Kristi, Danny, Joey, Katelyn, Brendan, Ashley, and Lauren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Florence was one of eighteen siblings
Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Visiting hours were held Monday, August 30, 2010, from 4PM to 8PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
