Irene V. Cushing, 84, a life long resident of Lawrence, Massachusetts died on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on December 24, 1925 to Raymond J. Jr. and Arlene (Jennings) Cushing. Educated in A.B. Bruce Grammar School and she was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1943. She worked as an Inspector at Lucent Technologies for 35 years until her retirement in 1987.
She was a life long parishioner of St. Augustine's Church in Lawrence. According to her family she loved to travel to Atlantic City, New Jersey and Fox Woods. Ms Cushing also traveled with her family all over the United States from the east coast to California and to other places as well, like Mexico and Canada. Irene loved the Redsox and she was a avid knitter of sweaters. She loved family and especially she adored her nieces and nephews.
She leaves her loving brother: Raymond J. Cushing of Lawrence, MA. Also many, many Nieces and Nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. Her close friend and sister in law: Arlene Cushing of North Andover, MA. She is predeceased by her brothers: Richard Cushing & William Cushing also her sister: Mary Gitschier.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Augustine Chapel, 128 Ames Street, Lawrence, MA. A burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
