Audrey Elizabeth Gross Holloway passed on January 2, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Durham County and was educated in the Durham County School System. For many years she was employed at Watts Hospital before retiring from Durham County General Hospital. She and her husband are the owners of Holloway Memorial Funeral Home.
She grew up in the Rogers Grove Community and joined Rogers Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved her membership to Mount Zoar Missionary Baptist Church.
She was married to Ralph Holloway in 1945 and to this union six sons were born. One son, Johnny preceded her death in 1995. She was the steadying force in her family and was very influential in all business and educational decisions.
She leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy her husband, the Reverend Ralph N. Holloway; five sons, Algin, Delton, Nathaniel, Kenneth and Timothy; two sisters, Mildred Goss and Constantine Lyon, both of Durham; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at noon at Peace Missionary Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. The family is receiving friends at 401 Pilot Street.
