Obituary


Albert A. “Pard” Almy, 83, of Tiverton, died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Silver Creek Nursing Home in Bristol. He was the husband of Elsie (Barlow) Almy. Born in Fall River he was the son of the late Pardon and Edith S. (Carter) Almy and was a lifelong resident of Tiverton.

He was a member of the former Central Baptist Church of Tiverton. Mr. Almy was a truck driver for Old Colony Transportation of Fall River and New Bedford for over 30 years retiring in 1980. He had also worked for J. & J. Corrugated Box Co. of Fall River and Franklin, MA. He had served in the Merchant Marines and enjoyed fishing at Grinnell’s Beach in Tiverton for many years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son: Richard A. “Pard” Almy of Tiverton, a daughter: Janet M. Lavoie and her husband Mike of Tiverton, 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ralph and Earl Carter, Janet Pennington, Mabel Davoll, Louise Wilber and Evelyn Anderson.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 10 A.M. at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.

Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton.

Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bliss 4 Corners Congregational Church, 1264 Stafford Road, Tiverton, RI 02878.
