Augusta, GA—Mr. John Albert Shields, Jr., 91, husband of the late Julia Edith Shields, entered into rest on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Reverend Martino Nguyen officiating. Burial will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland at a later date.
Survivors include his two sons, Mark Shields (Nancy), and John Michael Shields; one grandson, Alan Newsome (Laurie), two great grandchildren, Brady Newsome, Lilly Newsome; three nephews, Ned Shields, Kevin Shields, Tom Shields; and a sister -in- law, Midge Shields.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Burns Shields, and his niece, Patricia Bramhall.
Mr. Shields was of the Catholic faith. He served his country proudly during World War II with the United States Marine Corps.
