Obituary

BEVERLY: Mario J. Cecchini, 74, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. He was the husband of Carol (Paluzzi) Cecchini.
Born in Somerville on January 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Adolph and Frances (Marci) Cecchini. He was a graduate of Somerville High School and the East Coast Aero Technical School. He has resided in Beverly since 1963. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in 1955.
Mario was employed as a mechanical engineer for the Polaroid Corp. in Waltham for over 25 years before retiring in 1984. He enjoyed watching football and old western movies. He was also an avid car enthusiast.
In addition to his wife of forty-five years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Donald Andolina, Jr. of Somersworth, NH, two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Kim Cecchini of Beverly and James and Krista Cecchini of North Port, FL, eight grandchildren, Allyson, Amanda and Alicia Cecchini all of Beverly, Gabrielle, Samuel and Julia Andolina all of Somersworth, NH and Benjamin and Bella-Rose Cecchini both of North Port, FL, a twin sister, Mary Cecchini of Amesbury, a brother and two sisters-in-law, Ronald and Adele Cecchini and Jilda Cecchini all of Somerville and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Alfred Cecchini.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday in the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Cabot St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
