Mr. Maurice A. Legere, 86, of 129 Spruce St., Berlin, NH passed away on Thursday June 18, 2009 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Berlin, NH on January 26, 1923 the son of Theotime and Maria (Baillargeon) Legere and was a lifelong resident. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Infantry Division during World War II. Mr. Legere had been employed for Public Service Company of New Hampshire in the Line Dept. for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a true family man, who cherished his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He very much loved time spent with his brothers and sisters. He was a true craftsman, enjoying working with his hands, building his own home and summer home. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW White Mountain Post #2520.
Members of the family includes his wife of 61 years Clarisse (Gogan) Legere of Berlin, NH; his daughter Louise Marquis and husband Peter of Berlin, NH; his son Richard M. Legere of Berlin, NH; four grandchildren, Jeff Marquis and his wife Heather of Berlin, NH, Russell Marquis of Berlin, NH, Scott Legere of Albuquerque, NM and Lisa Legere of Milford, NH; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Steven and Elizabeth all of Berlin, NH; two brothers Arthur Legere of Bristol, CT and Hubert Legere of Berlin, NH; three sisters Juliette Merrill, Beatrice Landry and Jeannette Demers, all of Berlin, NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Paul Legere.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish 345 Pleasant Street in Berlin. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Sunday from 6 to 9 PM.
